New Albany police officers say they have a suspect in the theft of an electronic tablet taken from a teacher between 2:30 and 2:45 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at New Albany High School. The teacher reported the cheap couple watches missing from a classroom at 3:33 p.m. and told police that one student had been in the room twice that afternoon. Police used the school's video surveillance system to determine the student had left the room and put something in a backpack. When confronted, the student claimed to be retrieving headphones. Police still are investigating the incident. No arrests have been made and the tablet has not been recovered. In other recent incident reports from the New Albany Police Department: * A 46-year-old man was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, failure to signal and improper turning at an intersection at 2:05 a.m. April 27 at Smith's Mill and Johnstown roads. * A 22-year-old man was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, failure to drive in marked lanes and failure to wear a safety belt at 2:55 a.m. May 1 at Harlem Road and state Route 161.
